From December 28 to 30, the 13th International Conference on Transport and Traffic Engineering 2024, hosted by Wuhan University of Technology, was successfully held in Wuhan. The 3rd International Conference on Mechanical and Electrical Engineering 2024 was held concurrently. More than 200 scholars, technical experts and young students from universities, research institutions and enterprises in China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Singapore and other countries and regions gathered together to conduct in-depth exchanges on technological innovation and practical applications in the fields of "Transport and Traffic Engineering" and "Mechanical and Electrical Engineering", jointly discussing cutting-edge research achievements and sharing the latest practical experience.

Luo Rong, Vice President of Wuhan University of Technology, stated that this conference was not only an exchange and collision of academic ideas, but also an important opportunity to promote the deep integration of industry, academia and research. Under the background of globalization, the fields of "Transport and Traffic Engineering" and "Mechanical and Electrical Engineering" are facing dual challenges of technological innovation and sustainable development. Through international and high-level academic exchanges, experts from various countries can achieve experience sharing and in-depth cooperation in technology research and development, engineering practice and policy formulation, and jointly promote technological progress and social development in related fields. She emphasized that the theme of this conference closely followed the pulse of industry development, fully reflecting the high attention of academia and industry to current social needs and future technology trends. Wuhan University of Technology has long been committed to talent cultivation and disciplinary industry development in the three major industries of building materials and construction, transportation, and automobiles. It hopes to stimulate more innovative ideas through in-depth discussions and exchanges, and contribute wisdom and strength to promoting the sustainable development of global transportation systems and mechanical and electrical engineering technologies.

The conference consisted of keynote reports, invited reports, 4 offline sub-venues, 4 online sub-venues and 2 poster presentation sessions, covering hot and cutting-edge topics in the fields of big data, high-speed rail technology, future transportation, city brain, intelligent transportation, transportation-tourism integration, new energy vehicles, sharing economy and green travel, advanced electronic systems and application technologies, intelligent robots and control systems.

At the conference, four experts and scholars including Prof. Xinyu (Jason) Cao from University of Minnesota, USA, Prof. Longyuan Li from University of Plymouth, UK, Prof. Su Housheng from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Prof. Miguel Angel Sotelo (IEEE Fellow) from University of Alcalá, Spain, delivered keynote reports, focusing on cutting-edge developments in intelligent road traffic integrating machine learning, durability of transportation facilities for major transportation projects, distributed observation and control of cross-domain water-air unmanned systems, and autonomous driving behavior prediction.
